I'm taking a break from this.

Hey friends...

Things have been pretty rough since returning from our trip to North Carolina last week. I didn't go into this in previous posts, but my mom had been sick for about two weeks and was in the hospital while we were visiting. On Wednesday night of last week, we got a call saying that she had passed away. We returned to North Carolina on Saturday, had a funeral service on Sunday, and we just got back today.

I think we are all doing ok, just very, very sad. I don't think I'll be blogging too much for awhile... things are just hectic and I'm not really feeling up to it. One of the main reasons for having the blog in the first place was so my mom could read it and know how things were going for me, so I'm kind of left feeling like I want to take a break for awhile. Maybe permanently, I'm not really sure right now.

Just wanted to let everyone know what was happening. I have a feeling that all the people that read this already have heard about my mom's death, but I wasn't sure, so I figured I'd mention it. Take care everyone.

Quick trip recap

My supervisor asked me yesterday, "How was your vacation?" To which I replied, "We aren't calling it a "vacation". We call it a "big trip".

This basically means that it was not restful or relaxing (or vacation-like) in any way, shape or form. But... it was really fun at times and GREAT to see my family.

The time we spent at the beach was awesome (on the way up and back from NC). We stayed at a divey beach motel right on the beach and played together for hours. Jack LOVED it.

The time in North Carolina was great, too. We saw all my family and got to take Jack on a walk on the nature trail behind my parent's house. It was very fun. We are planning to take a trip back again very soon... possibly just me in a few weeks.

One of the hardest parts was the driving. Jack did pretty well in the car but overall did not like being on the road that much. Toys and a portable dvd player helped, but really didn't make that much of a difference. We made lots and lots of stops for him to get out and play at rest stops. The five hour drive from Amelia Island to Charlotte actually took us eight hours. UGH.

Anyway, we're back now and it's great to be home.

Stef is officially 30

Just a quick post today to say Happy Birthday to my best friend, Stef!

We are busy today getting ready for our "big trip". We leave for Amelia Island tomorrow morning and plan to arrive in Charlotte on Friday afternoon.

Have a great 4th and a great weekend, folks!
