Happy Early Thanksgiving!

In case I don't get a chance to get on the computer tomorrow, Happy Thanksgiving!!! I just want my family to know that I will miss them tremendously tomorrow and I hope that everyone has a great day! Happy Birthday, Jeff!

Stop!

You know what is so frustrating? The fact that I had typed a very long entry about Jack and how great he is and then he came over and hit the reset button on the computer and I lost the whole thing. Ugh.

Basically the whole thing was about how he has learned to say "Stop" at the appropriate times, like he's done eating dinner or wants us to stop changing his diaper. This is the coolest thing he has done to date. I love it!

Anyway, we're gearing up for a Thanksgiving Quest, where we attempt to conquer the highways, battle with family, and journey to Jupiter (the city, not the planet) where we will set up camp before turning around and going back home.

And I thought this past Sunday was rough. For details about Sunday, visit Keith's blog. Just know that the Gaylord Palms Ice Event is not somewhere to bring a one year old. Eeeehhhhhhh.

Sunday is making me nervous

Sheesh, I've been a bad blogger. In the past, I've dropped the ball on blogging when something big or serious is going on. Well, nothing's going on, we've just been busy. Well, nothing is going on unless you count the blowout between Dwight and Andy last night on the Office.

Anyway, we're gearing up for a very busy weekend. I'm currently trying to do all the weekend cleaning today so it's done early. Tomorrow we have a school fall festival at Keith's school and then Sunday (ok, how crazy are we to attempt this?!) we are going to try to drive to Orlando, buy a car seat, get Keith a haircut, get family pictures taken, and have lunch with Aunt Sunny (her birthday is on Monday).

The list for Sunday is waaaayyyyyy too long, but we're just going to do our best and see how it goes.

Then, obviously, Thanksgiving will almost be here and we'll have to prepare for that. We are (gulp) traveling to the coast about two hours away. Only one other time have we attempted such a feat with Jack and he was three months old at the time. And... he screamed in the car for about an hour of that trip. So, Happy Thanksgiving...? I don't know... we'll see!

Jack, the sparkling jewel of the playground

This morning, much to Jack's delight, we went to the playground. The weather was beautiful and we stayed for about 45 minutes. That boy did not stop walking around the entire time he was there. Miss Helen (the older lady with the tummy problems) was delighted with Jack's mobility progress... we started going to this playground and met Miss Helen when Jack was just starting to crawl. Jack was also extremely pleasant to all the kids, shared toys and did not totally freak out when it was time to go home. Ahhh....

It was probably a mix of the cool weather, being able to walk so well and the fact that the Democrats now have control of the House that led to Jack's chipperness.

One note of concern... upon leaving the playground, my car almost didn't start... again. Come on! The dude at Wal Mart told me the car was fine!!! Stress! I don't know if there's any way to appropriately communicate how much I do NOT want to get stranded in a broken down car with Jack and be waiting for a tow truck to show up... ugh...ugh gugughgughgughhhgughguhguhughh

I voted! Did you?

Well, we had a lovely St. Cloud morning. Around nine, we headed over to the mobile home community that was also serving as our polling place. Where I proceeded to vote! With a cranky one year old! Sheesh, if I can do it with a grumpy Jack, then i don't even want to hear anyone else's excuses. Here's how you can get out of voting with a clear conscience... you are sick or your child is sick. That's it.

Anyway, after that we went to the St. Cloud walmart where as we walked the aisles, I peeked at someone's shopping list and at the top of the list was Rat Food. Only at the St. Cloud Wal Mart. We moved on the checkout where the cashier said that Jack was so cute that I should have more kids. Now as I type this, he is screaming bloody murder because he doesn't want to take a nap. Yeah... more kids. I. Don't. Think. So.

We're in good moods over here!

Things are pretty good here in old Saint Cloud today. Friday is my favorite day of the week because the weekend just stretches out ahead of you.

Anyway, Jack finally seems to be feeling better... his nose is clearing up a little bit and he slept well last night... which means we slept well, which is probably why I am writing this in a more upbeat mood. We're going to be cleaning and getting ready for a visit from my dad. He's coming down to spend Saturday and Sunday with us.

My brother was also planning a trip to visit next week, but we found out last night that he has cancelled the trip. This is very disappointing.

But everything else is good! Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Some updates

First off, I just wanted to thank LJ for her kind comment on my last post. I know that we have everyone's support through all of this, but it's just nice to get supportive comments.

Anyway, the blood's been drawn and we are waiting for the results of the test to find out if Jack is anemic. The blood test was really not that bad, the nurse/ tech/ whatever was really good and fast so it was over in about a minute. The best thing was that there are no lasting effects of getting blood taken. I've gotten so used to immunizations and flu shots causing fevers, cold, swelling, soreness, etc, that I guess I just expected something, but once it was over, Jack was fine.

We have heard from our neurosurgeon and are taking a wait and see approach regarding Jack's recent head growth. He goes back to the ped. for round 2 of his flu shot on Dec. 1, so they will probably measure his head again then and we'll just see where we're at.

Right now, we are busy gearing up for some visitors. My dad will be here this weekend and then my brother will be here a few days later. Neither of them have seen Jack since last year, so these should be good visits.

In other news, hopefully everyone had a good Halloween. Our's was great. I went to work only to find a very slow night (not surprising) and then Keith called at 6:30. He said that he and Jack were trick or treating and I should just close up for the night and come join them. Well, that was about all the convincing that I needed. I went home and the three of us went out again to a few houses. Jack was dressed as a University of Miami basketball player... strange costume, I know, but we never got around to buying one and thanks to Grandpoppy, Jack has tons of UM clothes. So anyway, it all worked out great and was very fun.
